Think about the long-term consequences of actions like this. If someone were to be arrested, the punishment for their crime often goes beyond that of the sentence. It destroys their family, their trustworthiness, and their chances at being successful in life (it's more difficult to get a job). This is Minecraft so it's not as serious, but the same rules apply. One bad thing can screw someone up forever, and though it's still possible to recover, it takes a lot longer than if you just did the right thing.
One thing I often find missing is staff engaging with the community

I've read your suggestions which encourage the involvement of players and I know your intentions are well-meant, but your perception of leadership is narrow-minded. There are many ways to lead and while your encouragement of involvement isn't
wrong, I wouldn't say how the staff team operates is wrong either.
It is actually
encouraged to
not interact with those under you as it creates controversy.
For example, if a player is friends with a staff member, the staff member will have a bias towards that player. Furthermore, if the player is doing something against the rules and said staff has to warn/punish them, the player is more likely to oppose the decision. The respect given from friend to friend is different from staff to player.
Given how Minecraft is a game and we are here to have a good time rather than dictate, I wouldn't expect anyone to follow that last point. Many of the staff don't and I wouldn't even do it myself. However, I hope what I have said sheds some light on your perception of leadership and gives you some new ideas. Encouraging community involvement isn't as important as doing the job properly, and it's possible to enjoy someone's presence without being personal. If a staff member shows up, does their job, and makes it known they are present, that should do enough to qualify as involved without breaking the point made above.
I am very pleased to hear you are a Boy Scout, as my family is very involved and I am a Venture Scout myself. You are not a bad person but your chances of gaining a staff position are low due to mistakes which are only your own. I didn't post this to give you a -1, I am commenting only to help you improve.
