Anvils are unique in Minecraft where they have both a very important functionality but also maintain some limited uses in building (anvils actually posing as anvils (blacksmith shop), lampposts, etc). Their exclusion from the towny 'switch' perms negates their usefulness to building. It's addition would allow builders to create more sophisticated builds and decorations in their towns, whilst instilling a sense of 'richness' if used, seeing as they cost 31 iron each. Of course, this change may spell trouble for certain grinders and enchanters, but most of those issues could be solved with simple re-arrangement of the grinder lay-out (ex: a second plot next to the grinder room with perms on).
Preferably, however, people should be able to specify which specific items ('itemuse') and containers ('switch') a player can use. This way a person would be able to run how they want their plot / town to be used much more personally. I'm very inexperienced in plot and town permissions, however it could work something like this:
/t set perm switch off hopper, anvil on | or, | /t set perm switch on hopper, anvil off
I'm probably using the commands wrong but you guys get the idea (can someone tell me in comments if I'm using it right?).
It just seems silly to me the lack of specification we seem to have on the server; I'm biased because it negatively affects me as a builder but I feel like this could help a lot of people, not just pertaining to anvils. Perhaps I'm wrong though. Maybe it would be too much coding, or I overlooked an important repercussion. I'd enjoy your guys' opinions down below, and please respond to the poll! Thanks and have a great day!
