I think that a chat filter is going to be needed to stop the harassment towards players because it has come to my attention that some people have began to take some things to far.

Cyber Bullying Isn't A Joke.
all it takes is one person to make someone go over the limit.

And as a side note I don't care if people hate me if this filter does come to be a reality, people were given the privilege in Meepcraft to use uncensored chat and they have abused that freedom to much.

There is already a chat filter in our server, and we cannot make filters more extensive, because it 1) messes with a difficult plugin and 2) nothing can stop people from evading.

We have staff members, and players, who are more than willing to solve problems, whether it be spam or cyber bullying. Meepcraft is not an environment for harassment and we make that very clear in the rules.

If you feel like you or someone you know are being cyber bullied by someone in Meepcraft, then you can shoot a staff member or even myself a message and you will find help :) I don't think any more filter is necessary.

Its still needed and the only filter that I am aware of is the eggplant and thats it, And you know there are people suffering because of Cyber bullying and the staff cant always do something about it so it would be nice if someone would go out of their way to add one anyways.
And if you think the staff are always available your wrong.

I'm glad that you haven't swore in this server, but if you do happen to use swear words, it will turn into other words, such as bucket.

Either way, chat filters are not the way to solve cyber bullying. People will always find ways to bypass the chat filter, (such as accents, double/tripling letters, random spaces, etc or a secret way to say lag in chat) . Cyber bullying can also be conducted using words used in every day life. (such as garbage and pig)

In short words, machines cannot solve cyber bullying. I know that staff is not on all the time, but you can always private message a staff member on discord or forums and they will get back to you as soon as possible.

In addition, adding more filters will cause more people to get upset with them. I'm sure you have seen that there were suggestions on actually removing/nerfing the caps filter because it keeps them from saying things like USA and Efficiency III. If we start filtering more words unnecessarily, it will only cause people to question them even more.

If you feel like your games need a chat filter because you /your friends are being bullied you just need to click the red X on the window and go sit all quietly like. Chill. Be a big boy.

Now that I have your attention. This is an online server. Most people don't know each other. If you feel harassed, TURN IT OFF. Maybe even report it. Now, I know what you're thinking. "But Marshy, people kill themselves from cyber bullying". That is true. But those aren't strangers harassing strangers. Those are people that have personal contact making a weak person feel hell. If we were to do anything about the chat filter, loosen it a bit. maybe allow a few light curse words, like [SPOILER="Curses"] ass, arse, and damn [/SPOILER] . Our player base is growing up. We have few young people. Feel free to challenge what I state.

Yes cyber bullying is a problem, but are you really going to feel bad about yourself because some random person whom you've never met, is messaging you bad things on a Minecraft server? Thats what I thought. The current filters are already annoying. No need for more.

Instead of adding more filters, we should have less of them, if anything. We don't need the filters on caps as much, the eggplant one should at least be changed to something more amusing, and select words that are censored should not be.

Filters are annoying when I'm trying to have an educated conversation and it contains a filtered word (example: the word grape contains a filtered word, so I can't talk about it). Plus, there's always a loophole to any filter

So, they're annoying, and unneeded. Let's let staff do their job, and get back to having fun.

We do have filters for **** **** **** **** **** and **** to my which in my opinion is decent enough in regards to being used for harassing players. But we don't wan't to block out every single word because it can be used for abuse. When it comes to players being bullied on our server if you witness it or being a target make sure to contact a staff member with /modrequest or message them.

Remember though most of the time when it comes to someone bullying over minecraft the person that's doing it tends to be full of insecurities and sometimes has a hard life IRL so they take their frustrations out on people online. Everyone has their reasons why they feel angered or upset but don't let them step all over you.

Bringing this from the dead for the sake of keeping on top of suggestions.
Note that our current chat filter is not heuristic in nature. It simply filters out a list of words. It is impossible for our current platform to pick and choose which words should and shouldn't be filtered based on the meaning of the entire sentence without engaging an AI of some sort. To combat this limitation in our chat filter system, we have some truly awesome staff that do their best to prevent cyber bullying on Meep. (Unless it comes in the form of egging @EllieEllie's house--that's encouraged :p)

Denied because the time investment into making an AI for a chat filter is greater than the payout.
