Introduction: Hi.
My name is Lucas, I'm a 16 year old highschool student at Geneva's high school, and I'm currently studying biochemistry.
I play basketball, which I also teach, in a town's club. I have had some jobs in the past, including one at Subway, where I got to learn how to interact with customers of all type, old and young, and how to keep a smile no matter what circumstances.
I have many hobbies which include debating, going out and about with friends, and, obviously, playing Minecraft.
I found Meep back in 2012 when my brothers and I were looking for a server with towny and factions. On a website, Meepcraft.com was written with 350 players on or so, which was something we were looking for : a big server. When logged in, we used to play towny, in which we helped build a town, and fell in love with it. I especially loved how tight the community was, the best I’ve ever seen. Then, unfortunately I quit Meepcraft between mid 2013 until 2017, due to family complications and studies failing, and have come back, glad to see the same ambiance that I remembered.
In my time online, I enjoy every aspect of Meep, from my skyblock island to the halo server, but most of all the towny server and parkour.
Why should you be Helper? •Experience
I knew the basics of towny commands in the past, but upon my arrival, have expanded, to its full capacity, my knowledge of towny commands, by studying them, and basic server commands, and am glad to help out anytime someone needs a hand.
Also working as a basketball coach, I learned how to interact with young kids, and how to teach some slower than others, depending on their skills. I connected with them and formed a group by, guess what? Playing Pokemon cards with them. Sounds dumb, but it worked, and I’m glad I did it. It put me out of my comfort zone and introduced me to theirs, which also gave me ideas for new exercises (which included renaming exercises pokemons). Their age span varies between 7 to 12. •Timezone
I am in the European timezone (UTC +00:01) and often see the other, inactive side of Meep. While playing, unless I stay up late (as I often do), there aren’t many staff online while I am.
•Enthusiasm/communication
I am a happy person, and try my best to always make others feel comfortable around me. I am always in a great mood, and open to any conversation, whether it’s from new players or experienced players, talking with other people makes me relate to them a bit more every time. This is something that I deem extremely necessary in a staff member.
•Open Minded
I like hearing what people have to say and debating. I got interested in this when, as an activity outside of school, I signed up to a club, in which we met up every week with a topic, and debated. That experience taught me how to listen, and share my opinion in a constructive manner.
For example, once we had Donald Trump as a theme. At the time, I couldn't even imagine how people could even consider voting for him, no offense Trump supporters. Now, even though I don’t agree with his ideas, I at least understand why people like him and vote for him, which I think is something quite interesting to learn.
•Work Ethic
When I start a job, I give my soul into making it as awesome and accomplished as I possibly can. Whether if it's for studies, minecraft, or even basketball, I give my best into making things happen.
•Trust
I am a very trustworthy person. When a secret is told, I will take it to my death, as long as it’s legal. This I feel is important as confidentiality is a big part of creating relationships with players
What are your weaknesses? •Grammar and English
This issue is due to my mother tongue being French. Although I am orally fluent in English, grammar can sometimes be an issue for me.
•Unfiltered in global
Some people might think this is a good thing.
But it isn't always the case for me, as I tend to type a lot of what goes through my mind in global. Though this isn't a big problem, it can also be as I sometimes say useless stuff in global, which just fills up the chat with useless things. I feel this is a weakness, as people needing help are just polluted with my chats. Although this has calmed down, I still sometimes make silly comments. I usually read a message twice before posting these past days.
•Expressing my opinion
I don’t hide my beliefs, I just throw them out there, that without being rude. This can sometimes be perceived as brusque and rude. This is something I am working on, and with the help of others, I thinking this can really easily get under control.
•Offensive by times
I still am a little young, and can sometimes make jokes that may get perceived as offensive, though the intention wasn't. I’ve been working on this, and though I can keep a straight face in any matters in which I deem necessary to focus, and which are important, sometimes while just playing I can be a little overboard.
