When did you join Meepcraft? Right after the fall of Meep Networks (Septermber 2013 or 14, I can't remember)
Introduction: Hello! My name is Shawn, you can also call me smkorpi, or smk (every letter is an initial of my name). I have been playing minecraft for about 5 years now, and Meepcraft for the last 3 3/4 years. Originally, I only played in skyblock, and this gave me lots of great minecraft knowledge, but I only got included in the skyblock community for a long time before ever warping to towns. Currently I am a sophomore in highschool (almost done with sophomore year) and I am involved in many extracurriculars at school, but none that dig into my time to play MeepCraft. Since my last application I have worked greatly to improve upon my positivity, since that was the focus of a lot of the replies. I have also worked on listening to others, and even if I disagree to remain respectful of everyone’s opinion. The last thing I worked on was listening to others, and I have learned to never disobey what I’m told to do by someone with more knowledge than me.
Why should you be Helper? Experience - Despite having no staff experience, I am not new to interacting with people. I have involved myself in many programs through school where I help other students of lower grades. One of these programs was the Web program, where the Web Leaders (8th graders) would help incoming 5th graders so moving to middle school was much easier. Through this I learned how to help others while overloading them with information, and how to ease their nerves of stepping out of their comfort zone.
Work Ethic - I also find that I have a pretty good work ethic. I have been raised under a saying from my dad, “If you’re going to do something, do it right.” My dad isn’t a philosopher, but there is a good lesson, that if you are going to do something, you should give it the best you can. Some of my work ethic can be seen through my plots in the small private town that I’m in (A lot of time was spent making my plots, and I’d be happy to show anyone them).
Dedication - This is one of the qualities I think I exceed at. I am sixteen years old, and have been playing MeepCraft for nearly 4 years of my life. That is nearly a fourth of my life. Over these four years I have never been permanently banned, or truly quit the server. I have remained active on the forums when I couldn’t be in game, and I have over 1,500 hours logged on meep easily. Even through hard parts in my life, this server has still been my main and most active site.
Involvement - One of the things I saw in my last application was that a lot of people said I wasn’t active enough in chat. So since that application I have worked on talking in global a lot more. On top of talking with people on meep’s discord, playing minigames with friends, and helping people whenever they have questions in chat, I really feel that I worked on this point very hard.
Performance - I am at home when being under pressure, and I would not break under pressure when holding a staff position. There have been many competitions musically and through soccer where I have needed to do well to help myself, or my team, and I do not usually let people down.
What makes me different - I am extremely active on the server, and often find times early or late (American EST) when there are no staff online. I also thoroughly understand meepcraft’s rules and the intent behind each rule. If I were asked why something is so, I am pretty confident I would be able to supply an explanation that would be acceptable to the community. I also fixed my negative outlook, and now see things more positively. Suggesting things to make meep better has been my main way to help improve the server at the moment, so I have a lot of suggestions too.
What are your weaknesses? Ignorance - I have no experience as a staff member, so I would need to learn all of the commands and such that go with the role. I have no way to really work on this, but I am a pretty fast learner (and I’ll take notes of commands and such until I get the hang of it).
Reputation - I have earned a bad reputation over my time playing for debating, and I am willing to stop debating as a whole if the reputation I got for this is unacceptable for a staff member.
Curiosity - This weakness was probably where my last application went south so quickly because of how poorly I described this. I am a very curious person, I thrive for knowledge, and ask a ton of questions. I probably would pick up on subtle hints to stop asking so many questions, but if I am told to stop, I definitely will stop.
Please give any other information you might think is useful for us to know: I am very passionate about Meep, and I have wanted to help the server for the majority of my time playing (yes, that’s why I am applying) and nothing would make me more happy than to be able to help Meep as a staff member.
Please feel free to leave honest responses, I want stuff to work on in case this is denied.
