Introduction: I'm lfpnub, also known as Luke. I recently became active again. I've played for years on this server and always wanted to help out the server in some way. I enjoy musicals, I'm on the debate team, and am the epitome of a nerd. Schoolwork is the most taxing thing on me time-wise, but I can deal with it. I've watched as the server declined in traffic, and I feel the best way I can work to stop that decline is make the server the best place it can be.
Please describe your experience as a developer. I started learning Python 4 years ago. I wanted to make a script to automatically clean up my desktop. I learned relatively quickly the basics, then stumbled on offensive security. That was my call to teach learn how to use Kali. Plenty of hair-pulling later, I did it. I got pretty good at snooping on networks (With permission, of course. to do otherwise would be illegal and unethical.) That's essentially my dev story in a nutshell.
(I also built a mod 4 years ago for a camp, but we'll brush that under the rug...)
(This also means I can help with DDOS attacks...)
What programming languages are you familiar with? I know python relatively well, getting better at Java and C++. Looking back, I probably should've learned C first, but I'm getting better at it now. I'm aware Java is most useful for Plugins, but concepts from Python can apply to Java as well.
What are you most proud of as your work as a developer? I mostly worked with offensive security tools, so I am most proud of the contributions I made to the Exploit Database. (Pretty much what every pentester dreams about at night.) I found a hole in a mac's security in Single User Mode that allows someone to create a whole new admin account without needing any passwords. I always fixed other people's programs, which isn't glamorous or cool, but it needs to be done. It's what I do best. I see something broken, and I fix it.
How do you plan to enrich the experience of MeepCraft with your development contributions? The role I would be best in would be fixing things. AS of now, I would need to be a little more familiar with java to really build new things, but Python taught me OOP, so I can see where things get messed up in a script. I plan on continuing to learn Java, so when I get to the point where I'm more comfortable to make entirely new plugins, we can see from there. For now, I will be the firefighter extraordinaire. I also plan on getting more communication from developers to the community, as I think modreqs would be reduced if people knew what was going wrong. I was thiking something similar to a push notification system that alerted people to bugs. I welcome your feedback and hope to work with all the current techs. Thank you for reading this slightly scatterbrained application.
