What happened to MC?

Been gone for a while, but usually check in every year or so. Logged in tonight and noticed only 30ish players out of 1000. - Thats not like the MC I remember. So, girls and boys, what happened? Is MC dead?

Minecraft has been slowly dying, and therefore meep has been suffering as well.

Minecraft in general is old news and people are salty that the eco isn't like Alpha/Beta's eco. This is probably the last major server that isn't a hub server, or an oldschool Towny/iConomy server in general, so that doesn't help our numbers either.
