Basically, I think that the wild should be reset. Many of you probably just clicked away at that sentence but give me a chance. It is no secret that commodities (diamonds, etc) are at embarrassingly low levels (185 meebles per diamond, really?). We can sit here and discuss why for hours (I say because of lack of demand due to low player retention, others say PseudoCorp), but that doesn't really get us anywhere. So what I suggest is a reset of the Wild, so that generation rates can be lowered and thus, commodities can rise.
Doing this is a very simple feat; anyone can hop onto their single-player world and play around with the generation at any time. Want more diamonds in larger veins? Done. Want more granite... everywhere? Done (though why would anyone want that?). How about less iron? Also done! In a similar way, Meepcraft could use this mechanic in a new wild to lessen the generation of such items as gold, diamonds, iron, coal, and emeralds, thus raising the price for these items as supply drops. This may also potentially help player retention, as many new players resort to mining as their first job, and with more income they may be more inclined to stay. Of course, any change would have to be significant enough so that the benefits of a brand new, untouched world wouldn't make it easier to find materials in the short term, however I am no mathematician so I'm not even going to try to figure it out. If this idea goes through, that's your job, not mine (friendly staffers).
While this idea may be helpful in the short term, it is very important to note that the more effective and much more important change that needs to happen is an increase in demand. Cutting the supply is great, but it only addresses an issue that current players face. In order to ensure the future success of this server, ideas like this and others must be created to help increase player retention and by extension increase demand. As time goes on, and this idea becomes used again and again as prices begin to dip once again, this idea becomes less effective. However, to keep the economy afloat I believe drastic measures like these need to be taken now !
