I'm not understanding why it's so hard to change the color of a rank. Does Meepcraft have people who can code? Explanation of why colors for ranks can't (or won't) change would be really helpful. I understand you can't necessarily answer it in depth, so is there someone who can answer it in depth?

Color chats are assigned to a "group" in the rank system and each rank is a specific group and therefore a specific type of permissions. One of those permissions is your chat color.

So... are the permissions locked when that specific group was originally established? When I said "in depth", I also meant some of the literal code itself, a mistake on my part.

I mean an entire group can be edited
I think a specific persons perms can be changed to an extent

An example would be to look into the Essentials Chat Plugin. This is where group color codes are assigned:

Each group, such as the Moderator group, has preset configurations for chat outputs. Players are usually manually placed into groups, which we typically call ranks. For example when a Ult becomes staff they move from their Ult rank to Helper rank, which changes their chat settings. In order for you to have a unique setting you would need to make a unique group. This is why two Ults groups would be required to allow Ults to change from orange to a 2nd color. So if a player wanted to switch, an admin with access to Essentials would need to manually move a players file to a new group/rank.

Unless you guys can find a better color than orange, that's NOT white (which is cit color and people like to be different) that's easy to see, that's not staff color, it can't be done.

I've always mostly argued that they be let able to use purple or white instead of orange

Unless you guys can find a better color than orange, that's NOT white (which is cit color and people like to be different) that's easy to see, that's not staff color, it can't be done.

This has been a war for a long time which recurs every few months. In one camp, you always have the people who like the color orange, and want to keep their color. On the other side, you have all the people who just blatantly hate orange, and would like to dump it in an active volcano to get a different color.

Please dawn can you show me which ranked perks are absolutely necessary? Using "it's not necessary" as an argument would mean going back to the vanilla gamemode. None of the commands are necessary but people will pay money for them, the idea is to add benefits that increase donation incentives. Would the ability to change chat colors not be a donation incentive?

Yes, if the "donation" was not a 160 dollars upgrade from Supreme, I would gladly pay to change my chat color... for whatever reason.

I think there are way more important matters to focus techs' work on than the chat color of a rank.

Sure, that's a stupid argument for the suggestion to be denied. What's the alternative, though? If they accept it, it will sit in Trello for months if not years.

For a suggestion that only a handful people care about it's not worth the time.

^ This is all I was trying to get across. I personally like orange and don't really care about the ability to change, nor do I think it's practical since you need to edit Essentials. I just wanted to show that "this isn't necessary" isnt a logical reason to deny a ranked perk suggestion.

i wasnt denying it ;) i just really dont think this one is absolutely needed. Orange is fine as is right now, i see that some people dont like it, but i dont think theres really a need to change it @Deljikho

Running my server, it would probably take me an hour to locate a way on Pex, or maybe just ask on the bukkit forums and get some helpful advice. After that it would only take a few long pex commands

Or hire an experienced dev for 1 hour for minimum wage and get them to figure it out, I mean im pretty sure $10 is pretty cheap to get a few thousand dollars in donations (or y'know atleast $160 from me)
