Introduction: Hey, I’m SpongeyStar (Sidtheseastar on forums). I am a 16 year old from NZ. Most of you know I was previously staff, and I would like to rejoin the team.
My hobbies include programming (HTML, Python, C++ and currently learning Java.), reading and cooking (and watching Spongebob!). I also enjoy playing games. I have been on Meep since September 2014 and love every bit of it! Some of my favourite classes include Maths, English and Digital Technology. I aspire to become a Software Engineer when I graduate high school. In my free time I also enjoy playing Badminton.
I love meep mostly because of our amazing community, it’s a joy to have been a part of it as long as I have been. I’ve made a load of friends that I don’t think i’ll ever lose and I enjoy making people laugh with my personality. Meep stands out from the other servers I’ve been on because many servers have an abusive, unrefined community, which drives some away, but many servers also don’t care because they already have enough games to keep players coming.
Why should you be Helper? As I said previously, I was a Helper/mod on Meep. I really enjoyed the experience and helped out as much as I could. I get sort of a buzz when I finish modreqs and players are happy because I know I’ve answered someone’s question.
Activity: I might not be as active as I use to but I try to commit to getting on Meep every day. I also think my timezone can become handy as it is different to most others, there are generally not many staff on in my timezone. I get on forums every day to see what’s happening and if there are any new updates I’ve missed out on in game.
Experience: When I was first staff, I was too scared to catch hackers. I only ever did get one hacker but not the rest since I thought I might be wrong a few times. The second time I was staff, I grew more capable to catch them and it was easier to spot. If I wasn’t sure I would ask. I did not want hackers to ruin other player’s fun. I also involved myself in creating outlines for things on trello and joined a few suggestion meetings on teamspeak. I feel I have more experience now.
Dedication:
- Before Meep’s reset - I have an alpha town called Verdana. However since the release of Gamma, less people have been in alpha and my dreams of having my town as one of the biggest were kind of ruined. I had built around 6 houses and found a really nice spawn but then I felt like it was all a waste. I did not want to let go of it though, it was my dream to make it big so I am going to make it big. I am dedicated to my town and won’t let go. Sometimes if I haven’t been on Meep for a long time, a few days, it feels as though I’ve let go of really close family. I know I said before ‘I’m going to leave for a while,’ but I just can’t. It’s hard. I’ve been attached to Meep and don’t want to let go.
I might have come off a bit rough after that thread ‘ok.’ I wrote about Meep’s staff. I just wanted to express my concern but I will tell you, I will always love Meep no matter what.
What are your weaknesses? Teamspeak: Getting on teamspeak is a little struggle for me. a) I am not really allowed on it and b) I am very shy to speak out. I can find a few times when I can get on but it’ll be rare, however I will try my best.
Decision making: I tend to go with decisions without thinking about them thoroughly. An example would be when I wanted to apply before for staff but didn’t really think of the future e.g how school would go, how I would get on ts etc. I feel this will affect my position as a staff member but when I do make important decisions I will think what’s on the line.
Immaturity: Yes, it’s been 2 years and I still feel as though I have an immature side. It’s probably hard to let go of because we all have that side at some point. When I’m with my closest friends I let loose of immaturity but if I see that happening when I’m doing a modreq or such I will stop myself and tell ‘No, I need to stop being immature and just do my job.’
Time: Currently it is the school holidays so I can get on Meep (not currently as it is down). However when school starts in around a month, I won’t be on throughout the day. I will be making sure I leave enough time for studies and Meep.
