It seems that while I was gone, staff have made the decision to attempt to introduce a new towny while leaving the old, obsolete towny semi-operational so people won't complain about losing "all their hard work". While I acknowledge the staff's effort into finding a workable compromise, the current system does not seem sustainable. To put it frankly, the whole Alpha/Beta/Gamma thing is stupid. This server, back in its glory days a few years ago, had one towny world and one economy. Now, we have three towny worlds and two economies. This is not only completely pointless and unproductive, but confusing for new players as well. As 7acespade said, new players are likely to randomly pick a towny world, get confused by the system or ignored for lack of players in that world, and leave the server. Our new towns system not only fails to fix the server's fundamental problems, but drives away new players, and potential new community members, as well. What really needs to happen is for Meep to reset itself to only having one towny world. Both types of currenct should be merged into one (based on whatever the exchange rate is) and all 3 towny worlds need to be deleted. If people complain about losing their towns, so be it. Worst case scenario, we lose maybe 7 really dedicated town owners. It's worth it for the players that will be gained. All three towny worlds, once deleted, should be replaced with one towny world, called "Meeptowns" or something generic like that, and would be the basis of the economy.
It's simple, really.
