Hi, sorry if this is the wrong forum but idrc lol

Okay, so I'm thinking about buying an nvidia gtx 970, but I don't know if my current build could handle it/even install it. Its a premade computer by cybertron, so I don't really know if I can even put in different parts. (I'm not knowledged in building computers)

What cpu do you have? If the CPU is really cheap it will bottleneck the gtx970 keeping you from getting the most performance out of this. Also how many watts is your power supply? Often premade computers have just enough power for the pre installed parts.

Also if you know all your specs plug them into a build in pcpartpicker.com but swap your current GPU with the 970 and see what it says.

The other is not enough power. Often prebuilt pc's only have enough to handle the already installed parts. Do you know how many watts the PSU is and on what type of vault rail it is.

I honestly have no clue, but for the graphics card it has, it is able to pull through of most games, which I am very surprised of

At this point I don't see why you would want to get a 970. You would get much better performance per dollar going with a 1070 when the prices fall to what they should normally be.

I agree. I have the 1070 and it's a beast, you'll regret getting the 970 in as little as a years time.

For performance and money ratio this is the best on the market and will live up to a 970 for a cheap as $200 USD!!!!!
1070 is verging on top of the line at the moment and if u don't have that much to spend this is a way better option, I hated AMD until 1 month ago for those other AMD haters, this new line is seriously good. Also this card is smaller and uses less power so it would suit your prebuilt system

EDIT: I am in no way dissing the 1070 it just isn't in everyone's budget however it is still a great card.

Ok well micro. What you should do if you want to be extra safe is open up the side of your computer on the top left or bottom left should be a big box with lots of wires coming from it. Look for anywhere that says how much watts it has. Also try and see its brand.

Miro think about what you currently need, the 2 cards are different in many ways, a 480 will give u about the performance of your 970 and a bit more, this card is perfect for 1080p and 1440p gaming and will run almost any gaming above 60fps and yes it could run crisis. However if you are hardcore and have a 4k monitor and want to "game in 4k" get the 1070

Well of course AMD dominates the low-cost market, but for single-gpu performance nvidia has that market dominated, and the 1070 is very reasonably priced for the performance you get from it. Pretty much $200 nvidia. AMD also tends to have more driver issues, but it really depends on what games you play.

This could all change and there may be a fist fight soon as the 1060 looks very promising for the $200 mark that might be another option for you Miro
