Greetings and salutations to all who bothered clicking this (why are you people wasting time on anything I say?)
Background
Anyone familiar with the order in which towns work knows that town ranks each have individual permissions.
-
Mayors Can do every current Towny command
-
Co-MayorsEvery command except /t delete
-
RecruitersCan only do commands such as /t add
-
BuilderCan edit terrain anywhere, but incapable of running most commands
-
AssistantBasically a combination of builder and recruiter, but can set plots for sale.
-
VIPNo commands or ability to edit; only excluded from taxes.
The Issue
There is one problem with current Assistant permissions: they cannot unclaim any land. I understand this was probably done to keep rogue assistants from unclaimimg everything. But here is the thing: an Assistant can
claim land, but not
unclaim it.
Besides that, if you are promoting people to Assistant, you are already trusting them immensely, as they can raid your town vault and brief everywhere anyways (even if it is against server rules). I do not see how an Assistant can be trusted to claim land, set land for sale, have access to every chest without sign-shop protection (which they can get around anyways), and pretty much do anything except drain the town bank, but not be allowed to unclaim anything whatsoever.
Town staff must be people whom you can depend on. Sometimes they are the very core of any town. Unclaiming land may very well be part of their work.
Thank you for both the time taken to consider this, and any counter-arguements.
