There's only 9 people that own a dragon egg, some of which have been inactive for a while. So while a handful of people lose some investment, hundreds of others gain a new commodity.
Summrs is even one of the certified dragon egg owners and he's the one advocating for eggs in shop, I don't think it would be a huge upset for the others.

As one of the few people with a dragon egg, it'd be a huge upset to have something I worked hard to obtain be drastically reduced in price. I understand that there are players that would enjoy being able to use a dragon egg for aesthetics or just to have. The dragon eggs are similar to the event heads that were obtained by certain players. These heads are worthless aside from their rarity and their aesthetics. The reason why both are so widely desired is to be able to use/place one or have one of the most rare items on Meepcraft. As marshy stated, some players may not be willing to sacrifice so much in terms of Meebles to obtain the item which devalues the amount of work some players such as myself did to obtain the dragon egg in the first place. So, if there was a way to keep this scarcity up while reintroducing it as a commodity, I would support it. But for now, I cannot.
I think that the dragon egg should remain as an extremely rare item, however still obtainable.
I say that /warp wild is reset every two weeks so that players have to find the stronghold and kill the dragon to get the egg.
This would be a fun server event, as it would be a race to get to the end and kill the dragon first.

This will just cause the value of a dragon egg to drop faster. Maybe increase it to once every year or have it as a rare prize in a server wide player event that occurs very rarely.
