A lot of people have been losing stuff in the wild due to some disconnection. This isn't once, this is multiple times. I myself have been in two of those. The first time I lost nothing (Or at least, none of my diamond stuff) and the second time I'd lost everything in my inventory but my armor still existed, to my relief. Maybe I'm just extremely lucky, but also now I need to keep note that using /chest is really important when going into the wild.
