The instructions say to use just plain old petrol. Or "Gasoline" But I am going to mix it with tar, in order to make the flames heavier and more dense.

Yes, that one. And in regards to the tar, it depends on the ratio, if you put too much in, it will be too dense to even spray. It's a very careful science to get the right mixture to allow for the dense flames yet allow for distance as well.

You could build a mock-up flame thrower, just pvc (same width as the actual barrel), fuel tank (move pvc), and a small air cannister with approx the same pressure. That way you could test the spray to find the right mixture without worrying about clogging the actual flamethrower.

Im not worried about clogging the flamethrower. Since it is fairly easy to take apart and clean. But the pain would be the abundance of tar being too heavy to project.

That's quite possible. I know it's possible (don't know if it's legal) to make your own napalm. If you're into DIY projects, you could interchange your current barrel with one with a larger diameter (more surface area will give the propellant more 'umph'.)

I would want to keep the stream more narrow. The narrow stream is easier to maintain. If anything I would just add a stronger pressure system to pump out more propellant.

Napalm is already quite easy to make. Take some gas and find a way to solidify it to a more thick state.

However for legal reasons and my desire to not have Homeland Security knocking on my door, I will not use aluminum based thickeners. As that will make it into military grade napalm. I'll just stick with the classic Gasoline and Powdered Sugar mixture.

You could always keep a nozzle in the front; all that really matters in this case is the back, where propellant meets tar+gas

Buy a tank for about 102k (Russia made) you can get the tracks replaced with rubber one's and Deactivate the barrel making it legal in some states.
