Macho, it's a little more than just helping, being doomed and failing. You have to be mature, willing to take criticism, and build relationships with other people. Going on that, you also have to make yourself a good reputation for those watching you but never talking to you. If you lack any of these, it's easy to see why many people would give you a -1 instead of a +1. It's very okay not to make it in your first application. You can always apply again, when you've improved yourself and people come to respect you. But don't beg for that attention, it's going to get you nowhere. You need a little bit of time and to mature more.
