Introduction:
Hihi! For those of you that aren't familiar with me, I'm Melissa, better known as Mel. Outside of meep, I'm an active member of my school's community, working with setting up every school event imaginable with Student Government, working outside of school volunteering with Key Club, and capturing everything that happens across campus in our school's yearbook. I'm a bit of a history buff, and I really enjoy learning about other countries and on top of that being able to go to them!! Last summer I had the privilege to get to go to Ireland, Wales, England, and France for 3 weeks and I got to meet a lot of different people and got really close to the people in the group that I went with. In the future, I'd love to be a high school social studies teacher, or my more recent more ambitious goal of being involved in government (Mel for prez)!
Why you should be Mod?
I really enjoy being a helper, but I feel I have enough experience under my belt to take on more responsibility as a mod. Being a helper has really helped me grow as a person, and the staff team has been an immense amount of support in a way I couldn't even begin to describe. I've been able to tackle some really complicated cases without losing my head thanks to their support, and I feel I could now be that support for newer staff members. Staff honestly is a team, and I believe that I could use my personal attributes as a leader to help the team reach its full potential.
What are your weaknesses?
Confidence
This was an issue brought to light when I first became a staff member, in that I was always afraid I was doing something wrong. It isn't so much an issue anymore, as after I brought my concerns to trusted staff members, I was able to build confidence in my work and decisions. This is an extension of my weakness of low empathy, in that when I lose confidence I go by the book. Over time, I began to listen to what my friends on the staff team said to me instead and draw confidence from them.
Please give any other information you might think is useful for us to know: Homecoming week is the last week of October, and as I'll have a big part in it I will have very low activity that week, but besides that my schedule of activity should remain the same.
Thank you for your time!
