To be honest, one of the main reasons I created my forums account was because I heard that in order to apply for any staff position, you had to have a certain number of posts on the forums (I was and still am too shy to apply, just to clear that up ;-; )
I know one of my friends was with me when I had been told this, and out of both of us, I was the only one who knew better than to spam comments on threads just to get my post number up :p
Looking back at this it seems like kind of a stupid thing to do, and although I knew the server itself pretty well by then, I had no idea about anything like the forums ever existed, and was still pretty new to the community.
+1, because personally I don't want to see people applying for staff after only a couple weeks of being on the server and posting random things on the forums, both for their sake (humiliation and stuff I guess, idk) and for the server's sake (because if other newer members get the same idea, *boom*, application spam from players who aren't fit for the position :p)
