Being staff also leads you to unnecessary criticism. Our rule has always been, if you can't take it, then you're not suitable to represent the server. Customer Service always has it's rude customers.

I am surprised at the negativity to ALL of my points on the issues with the current process. I welcome constructive criticism, indeed my original post already raises this as a specific point. The title of my post is very specific on what the suggestion is.
I do notice a lack of any comment about what my actual suggestion is, making the posts private. Is that not what the responses should be about? Fine if you don't agree with my points provided your argument is logical and sensible but some of your comments aren't even relevant to what I have posted.
1. Yes staff do get more abuse, but that doesn't make it right neither does it justify creating additional avenues for this abuse. 2ndly , these people are not staff but have volunteered and are going through the process , maybe they aren't strong enough.. You never know how a kid might react to some of these criticisms.
2. This is part of the Internet that Meep controls, therefore Meep sets the standards, which are thankfully better than many other games and one of the points that meep uses to set themselves apart. You have stated this is a family server. Would you be happy + allow your child to be subjected to this abuse ?, I wouldn't be happy particularly when its avoidable. Its not about what I expect of the Internet but what I expect of meep. Surely you really using the lows of the Internet to set the standards?
3. My understanding was that as a family server part of the staff role is to stop abuse, I didn't say ban, but, as the title says what I am suggesting is that the posts should be set private. So you think its ok for some of these comments to be directed at kids by groups?.
4. Quotes from just one recent staff application directed at a 13 year old. "Haaah...,You're very immature and extremely defensive. "
"You are not fit to be staff, you have never been fit for staff". Other members also quoted these comments. This is common on applications. The quotes above are from 1 member, there are quotes of a similar nature on the same app. Other members also quoted and endorsed these comments This member also felt the need to post not once but twice. A staff member subsequently posted the following on the thread "Guys let's keep it to two posts per person and dial down the rudeness jeez", but did not delete them. This wouldn't be an issue if the posts weren't public which is exactly what my suggestion is yet you haven't commented on the actual suggestion which would resolve this issue.
5. Your response has no relevance to my point about the current application process. Im not getting into my own views of current staff issues. I would do that privately especially if ex staff and referring to people that had helped me.
6. So you think it ok to troll. Nor do you think the server should try to create a positive environment . Wow ! I strongly disagree and I believe the server rules on inappropriate conduct support my view and say otherwise.
7. I do not accept that us gamers are the worst. Like all communities theres good and bad. My simple point here is that the publication of negative posts , often by the bad element is avoidable and what I am suggesting resolves this. I don't see the connection with George Orwells satire on communism but I do agree with your unconnected point about a smooth running game, but its not exclusive , a supportive community is also a factor which my suggestion encourages.
8. A) This is about a process for members to volunteer and help, there is no suggestion that they are looking for payment and neither do volunteers get paid in the real world.
B) Even paid employees don't have there application published which is a very specific part of the point I made.
How do you know why each and every past member has stopped playing ?
Your views completely ignore the members who aren't successful which I believe is a significant number and they too are important members of the community, members that I don't believe the server wants to take the risk of losing, a risk that my suggestion eliminates.
You then go on about other staff issues that aren't relevant to my suggestion so I wont comment.
I think its very obvious what your real intentions are with your post particularly when you don't have any comment on what my actual suggestion is. So even if you don't agree with my reasons for changing the system none of your points raise any problems with what my actual suggestion is and that suggestion I believe would be an improvement to the current process.

It's not so much negativity, I disagree because in my experience I know it's better to see how they react during the application process to trolls, rather than while they are staff, and do much more damage. There will be trolls, always, it's the internet.
MeepCraft is not a babysitting service here to look after the feelings of it's volunteers; it's a business that requires people to sometimes deal with upset, or ignorant people, and do it with a smile. If you are not able to do that job, you are not qualified to be staff on this server.
Our application is process is fine as it is, as that is the same application process that has given us staff such as Reggles, Sjoe, Klutch, Phoenix, Sirrr_Pig, Nasapc, and the list goes on.
What would your idea be if that player who posted:
""Haaah...,You're very immature and extremely defensive. You are not fit to be staff, you have never been fit for staff"
Did so ingame? If you begin punishing for things like that, then that slope is slippery indeed. I have seen the ban lists, the thousands of minor bans that ejecting potentially paying customers out of this business.
Additionally, the application process is not part of the tribulations this staff is seeing as of late, that is coming from another issue, far distant from applying.
