Not the freaking point. Not the freaking point. It's not to go fill erotic pleasures at freaking ALL. It's to allow more freedom with what we say and it's about without having to worry about 10 year olds having to see it. Better to have a full sectioned off area for everyone than have something slip and have those kids see it.

This. This is part of the reason why I left this in the first place.

Many people have always played the whole "oh no the kids will see it" card when on the forums. This is all well and good that you're mindful of the welfare of kids who aren't exposed to profanity just yet (i.e. 12 and under). However, I'd like to argue that most kids of that age and under don't even bother going on the forums, and only really care about playing in-game. I mean they aren't the ones speaking up for more censorship; older members are. Not to belittle their intelligence, but my understanding as a former moderator is that most of them probably don't know or care that these forums exist unless they get banned, in which case they could be the ones using profanity.

Therefore, I understand censorship in-game because it is a kids server but I really don't see a problem in cursing on the forums which is a more teen/adult based community anyways. At the very least I don't see an issue in adding a section of the forums that provides more freedom for more mature and/or serious conversation more suitable for the adult members of the server.

No one needs to swear to have a conversation. You make a conscious decision to type out a curse word; you have no need to do it.

I could choose to swear, but I choose not to. There's no need whatsoever for this. Your 'freedom' isn't being limited just because you can't curse at people that you disagree with.

If you really do want to post things '18+' find another place to put it, 'cause this ain't gonna be the place you gonna put it.

And also, Like ChaosZero said, kids would easily be able to just make forum accounts that are 18+ just to view the 18+ stuff.

Okay? And you can make the same argument for a lot of the other sections. What does programming have to do with minecraft? What does Art and Entertainment have to do with minecraft? What do debates have to do with minecraft? etc. The forums are obviously not made just to talk about the game.

I totally agree that there isn't a need to swear, but I don't think that limiting one's ability to do so on these forums is necessarily justified.

After all, cursing and fighting aren't synonymous with one another. It is my understanding that verbally assaulting or fighting with someone on these forums isn't allowed anyways. So if cursing was allowed, there would already be an expectation to not use those words to attack another.

I really don't expect that anything will be changed regardless of what I say, I just figured I'd share my two cents.

I see why you want this but people would verify their age as over 18 and also this is a Kids-Friendly server and needs nothing of the sort. Anyway, we has TeamSpeak where if people are ok with it you can swear and have more of a joke around.

Except you haven't left, you're still here posting, therefor your reasoning about why you left is utterly useless.

I will not use the go to argument about children and their perceived innocent. However, I will argue that any adult on this server also doesn't want to see a section made up to 50% kids, which are dumb, and 50% teenagers, which are dumber. Undoubtedly this section would contain utter stupidity, using utterly stupid words to make up 90% of the content within.

Can anyone please tell me what more "free" discussions an 18+ section would allow anyone? Last I checked the debates thread certainly contained topics such as drugs, sexuality, and more. Do you have a need to talk about things edgier than that? I think 5 minutes after I made the last 18+ section there was a post of porn, then a post of a girl in a bikini. I give it about 15 minutes before it turns into that again.

What topics does anyone need to talk about here that would require an 18+ section?
