Above are two videos explaining what backpacks are and telling a bit on how to craft them. The first one contains language, sorry about that, but it goes into deeper detail than the second one. I also provided the link to the Bukkit site for it.
A backpack allows for more storage space. They are craftable and come in 6 different sizes from 9 to 54 slots. I think they'd be really useful because everyone could use more storage space, and I know that donors already get the /chest command, but for citizens who absolutely can't donate and don't have the meebles to buy ranks, this could provide an alternative. It's not like just putting in a code and boom, you've got more room. The materials need to found or bought. It could potentially add to sales for people with chest shops. Players can also go ahead and craft sell them for more profit, just as they do with banners and other stuff. I don't know about how much lag it would cause, because I don't know how coding and stuff works. Though, I wouldn't imagine that it would make things horribly worse.
In the first video it mentions about campfires, I don't think that would be needed at all. Which, the Bukkit listing doesn't even mention campfires, so I'm assuming that's a whole different plugin. I do think it's worth a look into either way.
