Investing in gold was always worthless, mostly because the rate in which gold was sold to the bank far outweighed the rate in which gold was bought from it. However, by creating the need to stockpile large amounts of valuables, the server could have an economy where prices are not perpetually decreasing, without needing to bring large sums of money into the economy. If you implemented a limit for the maximum amount of meebles(5 million seems like a good amount) a player, town, or nation could have in /bal at any given time, it will create the need for players who have more than that amount of money to stockpile valuable items(Probably gold due to the ease in which you can sell it.) and increase their demand, and therefore prices, which in turn would make it easier for new players to make money while not inflating the economy.
