It would be helpful in situation wheres spoilers are or maybe sensitive material. examples:

Cursing in player report
Talking about a movies end in misc threads
For the lols

This could also be used as a spoiler if it even works. But real spoilers are better.

Yes! Helps a lot with organizing longer more structured threads, where certain information does not need to be shown or is irrelevant after a certain time, but still deserves a spot in the thread.

EDIT: Oh, and of course, the more obvious reason, for spoilers...
