Introduction: Hallo! It's Owen Powell, or owengpowell14. I'm a fairly well known player, mainly because of my love of /g, using way to many emoticons, and my wonderfully mediocre jokes and puns. I love MeepCraft, with the magnificent towny system, the wonderful community, the fascinating forums, and just the great experience of being on the server. I started playing Meep briefly in 2012, on another account, but didn't really get into Meep until I rejoined in early 2014. Since then, I've made many wonderful friends, such as Zebo, BobJon, Blackoak, Brandon, Iate, and many more! My work and experience in MeepCraft consist of lots of activities, such as helping players get started, posting and suggesting many ideas on the forums, great conversations on TeamSpeak, building goliath skyscrapers from ground up, and many more fun stuff! This server is my favorite online activity and I'd love to become more involved with it!
Why you should be Helper/Mod ?
-A Desire To Help: Right now, I strive to help out as much as possible, answering questions in /g, building free houses for residents of my town, making helpful suggestions on the forums, and I've even offered to help staff out with /modreqs once (they polity said no thank you)! But, the ways I can assist this server are limited. If I get staff, I'd be able to use HawkEye to stop griefers, get people's questions answered and give advice in /modreq, and take care of people's glitch reports. Helping would be my #1 priority as a helper (hence the title) and I believe Meep would be a little bit easier for new players.
-Respect For The Rules: I follow every rule on the server, and would enforce all of them firmly, but fairly, whether I agree with them or not. I've never been banned, or even kicked, and take great pride in that. I'd never dream of defying the rules of MeepCraft, even if I wouldn't be caught.
-Self Control: Temptation sneaks up on all of us at the wrong times. But, I've learned to resist it. When someone breaks a town rule, spams me, is rude to me, I don't lash out and attack them, I handle it responsible and respectfully. Instead of cursing back at them in all caps, I'd ask staff "Hey would you mind doing something about this guy, he's being pretty rude to me" and let them deal with it.
-A Optimistic, But Not Unrealistic, Attitude About The Server: I always keep a positive vibe about MeepCraft, whether it be in-game, on the forums, TeamSpeak, or just talking about MineCraft with my friends. Whenever someone wants a recommendation for a new MineCraft server, I blurt out "MeepCraft" before they can even finish their sentence! But, I still can see the flaws and problems with Meep, and strive to fix them.
-A Passion For MeepCraft: As I previously stated, I strive to make MeepCraft the best server it can be. Whenever I play, I'm constantly analyzing everything that's going on, and thinking "How is this effecting Meep". I always want to make sure this server is reaching it's reaching it's full potential, than blowing that out of the water.
-Activity/ Involvement: I'm active in all 3 aspects of MeepCraft, In Game, The Forums, and TeamSpeak. I try to be on each at least for 1 hour to 1 hour and a half. I'm deeply involved with the server, and keep up with everything that's going on.
-Justice: I always strive for justice. In real life, I'd want to take jury duty (when I'm old enough), no matter how tedious it can get, and make sure justice was brought in the court. On MeepCraft, I'm the same way. If someone was wrongly banned (fortunately I've never seen that happen) I'd stand up for them. And if I felt something was unjust, I'd try my hardest to change that.
-I Can Take Constructive Criticism, Learn From It, And Apply It: I always listen to constructive, helpful criticism with open ears. Then, I apply it. For example, when Bob4444444 told me on my 1st app to "stop responding to people" (although he was much politer than that :p) I thanked him and did just that.
-Outside The Box Thinking, But An Ability To Make Compromises: In my opinion at least, my viewpoint differs from a fair amount of players and staff on MeepCraft. But, I can still listen to them, respect their opinion, and maybe even agree with it. Like I've said before, multiple perspectives and mutual agreement is a path that's bound to lead to successes.
Things I Need To Work On (Weaknesses):
-I Can Contradict Myself Sometimes: One day, I'm doing a great job at school, being helpful, friendly, getting all my work done having a great attitude. But, the next day, I'll be sour, sassy, un productive, and not so nice. Some of my greatest strengths are also my greatest weaknesses. For example, I put self- control as a strength. But sometimes, even the weight of temptation is to heavy for me to carry.
-Ego: In this app, the weaknesses section was the hardest to write, because I have trouble pointing out the flaws in myself sometimes. I have a large ego, but try not to show it.
-Making Dumb Decisions Because Of Lack Of Though: Although this issue has significantly approved, I still make regretful choices at times because I think to quickly. For example, I'm talking to one of my best friends, and he says something I don't like. I'll say something mean and offensive that I didn't mean to say, and it'll damage our friendship.
-Confidence/ Nerves: Sometimes, I'll let my nerves get the best of me. A time when this happened was in my staff interview, when I couldn't say good answers because I was nervous. And that damaged the quality of my interview, and led me to getting denied.
-Being To Lenient Or To Strict: At times, when I'm put in a position of authority. I used to be admin on another server (I resigned recently) and I'd ban a little to easily, or, at other times, I'd be a little to reluctant to use my power. But, this problem is waning as I'm learning by example when I watch staff do their job.
These weaknesses are all ones I can overcome easily, by just giving time, thought, care, and hard work into them. I have faith in the fact that I'm strong enough to beat these shortcomings in my personality.
Conclusion:
I have confidence that I'm ready for a staff position after all my time, experience, dedication, and work I've put into the server. I thank everyone who took the time out of their day to read my application. I hope you'll be respectful, honest, and tell me what I need to hear, not what I want to hear.
Sincerely,
Owen Michael Powell
