Introduction:
Hi! My name is teakizz99, and this will be the very first time I apply for helper.
So I have had a long history with Meepcraft. I can't remember exactly when I joined Meepcraft, but it was around the Christmas of 2012 or Jan-Feb of 2013. I first stumbled upon Meepcraft while browsing through lists of Minecraft servers in search of a Towny server. Meepcraft astounded me at first glance. First off, the amount of people that would be online was unbelievable. Back then, 700+ would be online at the same time. It was amazing when compared to the other servers I previously played on. The v-shop economy was also impressive.... and I finally felt that I have found a new home for my Minecraft gaming experience. Finally, I found the perfect server where I could start my dream town. So around Jan or Feb of 2013, I gathered enough money to start my own town. I made many friends along the way, few of those old faces are still playing Meep today (I.E. oscar and rorihouston). However, I quit Meep for nearly a year sometime around July of 2013 I think? There was a towny reset, and a combination of circumstances required me to quit Meep and focus my energy on other things instead. A year later, in May of 2014, I found myself back on Meep with my heart set on rebuilding my dream town. The rest of the story is history.....
Now, to my life outside of Meep. I am currently a senior in high school, getting ready to go to college :) I participate in a lot of extracurricular activities such as being in the school band, participating in school musicals every now and then, performing music with my "jazz combo," and also play a variety of sports. I was on the school JV Soccer and Badminton team last year. Many would say that I am "musically talented" since I can play a variety of instruments and pick up new instruments very quickly. I play the piano, saxophone, flute, and clarinet at the moment, and my band director lets me switch around often because I can fill in any missing parts. I mainly play the Alto Saxophone, however.
I am currently a mayor of the town of Premede in Beta, and I play during the quietest hours of Meep. Every time I come online, there would be around 70-80 people online.I made many good friends during this time, even if there aren't so numerous (I never play during peak hours).
Why should you be Helper?
Experience - I have been on Meepcraft for quite a long time and I have seen the progression of the server as time goes by. Of course, I wasn't here to witness CrueltyGaming and many other events that happened during my year away, but I have learned the nature of the Meepcraft community. I have been on many servers before Meep, which contributes to my experience and knowledge on how a server is run. In every server that I have been on, I have started my own town so I know towny commands like the back of my hand. For a short period of time back in Beta 1.8, I ran a small server with a few friends, but that wasn't a very valuable experience to me because my friends just loved to wreak havoc on everyone.. and we eventually stopped hosting the server. Another experience I gained during my time as mayor is the ability to communicate effectively with new players. Being the mayor of a town means that you will constantly run into new players that just joined the server who doesn't know left from right. And there will always be that occasional 6 year old who can't type properly and beg you for 300K. However, I learned to be patient and teach them the basics of this server. I want all new players to continue to play on the server as much as I want them to continue staying in my town. As a result, I make sure that they feel welcome in my town and in the server as a whole.
Work Ethic - Ever since I was young, my parents encouraged me to take part in piano competitions. I have performed in many solo piano competitions and electone ensemble competitions. (Electones are electric pianos) This means that a lot of my childhood is spent in front of a piano practicing hour upon hour in order to achieve perfection. When it comes to doing something that I am passionate about, I will put all my effort into the task and make sure that the job is done well. Meepcraft is an amazing server that I wish to see it return back to its former glory, and I shall not stop until that is achieved.
Dedication - Of all the servers that I have been on, the Meepcraft community is truly unique. It is the white swan in a flock of ugly geese. Not only is it welcoming and friendly, it is also very interactive (ts and forums), and addicting. Now, when I type the letter "m" into google chrome in the browsing bar, meepcraft.com would immediately come up. The Meepcraft forums is such an amazing place to discuss just about anything. It is so good that many players who have quit Meep still participate in the forums because it is just so... good. Same goes with ts. This is a community that I have come to admire, and this is the community that I want to serve and improve.
Involvement - I am active on all three aspects of Meepcraft. However, since I am online during the quietest hours of Meep because of my timezone, I only see a few familiar faces. Whenever I come on Meep, I immediately open ts and start talking with my friends. Whenever someone asks a question in /shout, I do my best to assist them. Since I am constantly looking for new residents to join my town, I always have my eyes trained on the chat. I help people out whenever I see an opportunity. I also check the forums very often, as I see it as a great place to connect with people and to engage in very interesting discussions and debates. The forums is very addicting, and I have trouble convincing myself stay away from it.
Justification - I believe that I am ready to join the staff team because I have gained enough experience ever since I returned to Meep in May. In addition to that, I have never received a kick or a ban ever since the very first day I joined Meep. I have been on Meepcraft long enough to know the inner workings of the server and of the community. Also, I now have a general knowledge of the punishment that a rule violator should receive from studying the kicks and bans issued by the staff of Meepcraft. If I get the position, I will treat everyone fairly, and have a high code of conduct, just like how I strive to treat all of my residents fairly.
Weaknesses - Nothing is perfect. Here are some of my flaws:
Low tolerance for immature people - I am not a very patient person in real life. As stated earlier, I run into immature players all the time since I'm a mayor and seeing people who can't type properly or act immaturely drives me crazy. However, over the years of being a mayor, I have improved on my tolerance for immature people, but I still have a lot to work on.
Self control - Every now and then, I would act stupidly and do things that a typical 17 year old wouldn't do... which is ironic because I have a low tolerance for immature people myself. Sometimes, you will see me posting stupid comments in /shout, but I am working on fighting the urge to do so. I understand that being a part of the staff team requires a certain standard of conduct, and I am willing to change my behavior to meet that standard.
Lack of knowledge of Helper commands - I have never been a mod or a helper on any server before. As a result, I have nearly zero knowledge whatsoever on Helper commands and how to crack down criminals. However, I am willing to try my best to learn what I need to learn if I do get the position.
Conclusion:
I believe that I can become an integral part of the staff team because of my work ethic, dedication, and willingness to treat everyone fairly. My experience on Meepcraft and several other servers will serve me well, and I will be able to handle /modreqs in an efficient manner. I know the feeling of someone who files a /modreq... and I believe that I can communicate effectively with people who need help and make them feel that their issue is being handled in a proper manner.
