This was purposeful; double posts (except those done by staff members, it seems) merge together.

I posted 3 unrelated posts at very different times, and they were all merged.

If you make one post now, and another one in an hour day, month, yea, if they are 2 posts followed by one another, they will be merged.

That is my point, I made 3 unrelated posts at 3 unrelated times, and they were merged. I did not want three unrelated posts merged.

Like monkey said, time doesnt matter. Unfortunately, I very highly doubt this feature will be removed. What's wrong with them being merged?

Hmm, alright. I doubt it's possible and unlikely to happen but I could ask if maybe it could be possible for you to uncheck a box in your post in order to allow it to not merge?

I'm guessing that merged posts don't generate new reply notifications in subscriber's emails.

I'm trying to sort out an escape from being stuck in a block in creative. I've made a thread about it and I've posted that I'm ready to talk on Skype about it but no-one's answered that post because, I suspect, the email to them telling them I'm ready was not sent because it was merged.

It actually does send another alert, and therefore an email, but not all moderators are constantly on the forums.

Posts merging isn't going to change any time soon it removes a lot of culminating spam on several threads and removes pages upon pages from threads. Although this condensation of posts may annoy you, its a very beneficial part of the forums and helps make less spam.
