Dropping Several Items And They Turn Into 1 Item?

Yesterday, I sold 20 spawners to someone, and the person only picked up 1 spawner. 19 spawners vanished. It was not clearing entities, because then all 20 would be missing. LexKristen was able to confirm that I dropped 20 spawners and the person only had 1. The issue was resolved, so I don't care about getting my spawners back. I, however, want to let everyone know that this has happened, and can possible happen again. I doubt it will be fixed, though.

I don't see how this glitch is limited only to spawners...

This has happened to me once before with diamonds, however I thought nothing of it until I saw this

I've tested this recently its a lag based issue, I'd find a generally un-populated server and remote area away from a spawn and then drop the items or go to the wild, put them in a chest and have the other player get them from a chest this is a lag based issue and it is resovled.
